Lab Studies: None Other Studies: X-ray of the right knee revealed no bony abnormality. A small joint effusion was present Case Photo #1 Case Photo #2 . MRI of the right knee showed an acute, displaced bucket handle tear of the lateral meniscus Case Photo #3 , Case Photo #4 and Case Photo #5 . Consultations: Given the findings of the MRI, orthopaedics was consulted and evaluated the patient in the ED. They discussed saline-loading the knee in an attempt to reduce the torn fragment. However, this was decided against as the patient would be requiring a surgical intervention regardless. Click here to continue.
