Matthew Gammons, MD Installed as 23rd President of AMSSM

Matt Gammons, MD, was installed today (April 18) as President of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) during its 25th Annual Meeting at the Sheraton Dallas (Downtown) Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Gammons is a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician at Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic Killington Medical Clinic. He serves the patient population at both the Vermont Orthopaedic Clinic and as adjunct facility at the Killington Medical Clinic. He is board-certified in family practice and sports medicine and specializes is in non-operative musculoskeletal care.

“It is truly an honor to serve our organization as President,” said Dr. Gammons. “I have had incredible opportunity to work with and learn from many dedicated and outstanding leaders during my time on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. It is my hope to continue to this tradition of excellence in serving our members and organization.”

Dr. Gammons previously served as the Assistant Residency Director and the Director for Sports Medicine at St. Michael Family Practice Residency in Milwaukee. He has authored numerous sports medicine-related articles, papers and presentations and served as an expert physician for several media outlets. Dr. Gammons has been the recipient of several professional honors, including the Harry Galanty Young Investigators Award for Outstanding Research from AMSSM.

He is also Medical Director of the Sports Medicine and Sports Concussion Clinic and enjoys several sports team affiliations, including serving as team physician for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard teams.
