Other Studies:
Radiographs of the hip from his PCP's office reviewed and confirmed to be normal. The X-ray extended to 8 cm inferior to the lesser trochanter. In our office 3 days later we obtained radiographs of the hip with extended view which demonstrated a small area of intracortical lucency and pericortical irregularity located about 6 cm distal to the lesser trochanter, only visible on the AP view. MRI right thigh was obtained to evaluate abnormal osseous area and for any concurrent soft tissue injury. The MRI showed a focal lesion in the proximal diaphysis of the femur involving the medial cortex with abnormality in the adjacent soft tissue with a small soft tissue mass and edema. Findings were compatible with a possible osseous neoplasm and were reported as highly concerning for a malignant lesion. Case Photo #2 Case Photo #3 Case Photo #4
