Broad Differential Diagnosis:
Muscle strain, possibly the trapezius, erector spinae, splenius capitis, levator scapulae, or the rhoimboids.
Sprain of the anterior or posterior longitudinal, interspinous, or supraspinous ligaments.
Vertebral fracture.
Spinous or transverse process fracture.
Spear tackler's spine.
Disc injury such as an annulus tear or herniation.
