Patient Presentation:
Patient presents with feeling short of breath, tachycardia and left sided chest pain of 1 day duration.
History:
A 17 year old male without known hypercoagulable syndromes presented with left sided chest pain that began the previous day. The pain was acute in onset and associated with exercise. He was initially thought to have a muscle strain secondary to weight lifting. He had recently started biking about 125 miles per week. He denied any fevers, recent illness or travel. He reported smoking a pack a day for the past two years. His medication list consisted only of whey protein supplement, and he denied steroid use.
