Dr. Marci Goolsby Assumes AMSSM Presidency during 2023 Annual Meeting

PHOENIX, Arizona — Marci Goolsby, MD, FAMSSM, was installed on May 2, 2023, as President of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine during its 32nd Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Goolsby is a board-certified sports medicine physician currently practicing at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City after completing her training in family medicine then sports medicine at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Dr. Goolsby is the Medical Director of the Women's Sports Medicine Center at HSS and has served as team physician for the WNBA New York Liberty, USA Olympic Biathlon, and as a USOPC physician at the Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Dr. Goolsby has been an invited speaker nationally and internationally, sharing her expertise on bone health of the athlete, the athlete triad/RED-S, stress fractures, and overuse injuries. She has been involved in multiple clinical research projects in the areas of bone health and stress injuries.

From 2016 to 2020, she served as a member of the AMSSM Board of Directors as the Chairperson for the Membership Committee and was the Program Chair for the 2016 Annual Meeting in Dallas, TX. As the Incoming President, Dr. Goolsby has served on the Executive Committee the past two years and has played a vital leadership role in leading several key organizational projects.
