Patient Presentation:
29 year old white male marathon runner presented with left foot pain. Per patient, it began after missing a step and having his toe curl under his foot on the following step while walking downstairs.
History:
No known past medical history. On HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis therapy of Emtricitabine-Tenofovir based on risk factors.
Physical Exam:
Gait: Antalgic gait.
Left lower extremity: foot with significant swelling without ecchymosis. Tender to palpation over fifth metatarsal base. Full range of motion of ankle with dorsiflexion and plantar flexion. Pulses and sensation intact.
