Lab Studies:
Creatine kinase (CK), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), folate, vitamin B12, vitamin D, ferritin, comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP), and complete blood count (CBC) were all within normal limits.
Other Studies:
Bilateral femur radiographs:
Skeletally immature patient without evidence of acute fracture or other osseous abnormality.
MRI Right Femur:
No stress fracture or soft tissue mass. Partial tearing of the proximal-to-mid rectus femoris with scarring and an intramuscular hematoma measuring 1.0 x 0.6 x 9.4 cm, consistent with a healing intramuscular degloving injury.
MRI Left Femur:
No stress fracture or soft tissue mass. Tearing of the proximal myotendinous junction of the indirect head of the rectus femoris with an intramuscular hematoma measuring 5.8 x 2.1 x 10.5 cm, consistent with an intramuscular degloving injury.
Case Photo #1 T2 Coronal view of left thigh showing tearing of the proximal myotendinous junction of the indirect head of the rectus femoris with hematoma
Case Photo #2 T2 Axial view of the left thigh showing tearing of the proximal myotendinous junction of the indirect head of the rectus femoris with hematoma
