An Unusual Neck Mass In An 11 Year Old Female Volleyball Player - Page #3

Lab Studies:
MRI with and without contrast of the cervical neck was obtained and revealed a clearly demarcated cystic mass. The fluid consistency is suggestive of a hematoma or an abscess. The surrounding tissue is clearly intact with no infiltration of the mass or inflammation. Furthermore, the adjacent scalene muscle exhibits the appearance of an intramuscular strain. There is no regional lymphadenopathy. The remainder of the exam was normal. Case Photo #2
