An Unusual Neck Mass In An 11 Year Old Female Volleyball Player - Page #3

Lab Studies: MRI with and without contrast of the cervical neck was obtained and revealed a clearly demarcated cystic mass. The fluid consistency is suggestive of a hematoma or an abscess. The surrounding tissue is clearly intact with no infiltration of the mass or inflammation. Furthermore, the adjacent scalene muscle exhibits the appearance of an intramuscular strain.
