Given the persistence of her symptoms despite conservative management, an MRI of the hip and thigh without contrast was obtained Case Photo #2 Case Photo #3 Case Photo #4 , which revealed a full thickness proximal rectus femoris tear at the musculotendinous junction with retraction, beginning 11.6 cm inferior to the proximal attachment, with a small intramuscular hematoma or seroma. The torn portion including both full and partial thickness tears spanned a total of 9.9 cm at the level of the proximal/mid femoral shaft. No acute osseous abnormality was noted.
