History: He suffered an injury to the back of his shoulder and neck while playing basketball. He was struck in the upper back while rising from a forward bend. He experienced immediate pain. The pain radiated down the right arm to the first three fingers and described as sharp. Pain was focal to the back of the neck and electric down the arm with associated tingling. Movement and lifting objects overhead worsen pain; whereas, rest and ice alleviate the pain. Physical Exam: General: Alert and oriented, well developed, well nourished, in no acute distress MSK: Tender to palpation over the C7 spinous process, Neck range of motion was decreased in extension, flexion, lateral bend and rotation left. Neuro: Upper extremity reflexes were symmetrical, but, had diminished sensation along C7 distribution of the right hand Skin: No bruising, no ecchymosis and no rash noted, no erythema Click here to continue.
