Imaging:
1. Initial right hip x-ray: Mild degenerative changes with osseous demineralization.
2. Initial right hip MRI: Extensive edema within the right femoral head and neck with low T1 signal in the femoral head subchondral bone. Decrease size of right inguinal subcutaneous cyst. Case Photo #1 (Photo 1. Initial MRI coronal image). Case Photo #2 (Photo 2. Initial MRI axial image).
3. 6 week follow-up right hip x-ray: no femoral collapse or findings that correlate with prior MRI.
4. 6 week follow-up right hip MRI: Significant interval improvement in the degree of marrow edema within the right femoral head and neck, no fracture. Case Photo #3 (Photo 3. Follow-up MRI coronal image). Case Photo #4 (Photo 4. Follow-up MRI axial image).
5. 12 week follow-up DEXA scan: Osteopenia, T-scores lumbar -0.4, femur -1.4, femoral neck -1.6.
