Diagnostic sports ultrasound (US) of the left knee revealed a large isolated and discrete hypoechoic mass separating the tissue planes between the subcutaneous tissue of the anterior medial aspect of the knee and the vastus medialis oblique (VMO) fascial plane. There was no joint effusion, quadricep muscular strain or tendon defect, nor superficial cortical irregularity with visualization of knee osseous structures. The patellar tendon was intact and unremarkable.
