Lumbar Spine MRI: No disc protrusion, central or foraminal stenosis, or other structural anomaly impinging on adjacent nerve roots. There was evidence of an intramedullary abnormality at the top of the field of view in the lower thoracic cord.

Consultations:
The community physician referred the patient to neurology initially, who then referred to neurosurgery for the operation. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians, who were the authors of the case, received the patient post-operatively while in inpatient rehabilitation and followed with her on outpatient therapies after she was discharged home.
