Lab Studies: Complete blood count and complete metabolic panel normal, prothrombin time 13.9, INR 1.2, partial thromboplastin time normal. Other Studies: Computed tomography revealed the following: 1.7 x 1.9 x 3.3 cm left hypopharynx mass. In light of the history, this may represent a hematoma. Left thyroid laminar fracture with supraglottic edema. Case Photo #1 Case Photo #2 Computed tomography of the head was normal. Consultations: Otorhinolaryngology was consulted, and flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy revealed the following: Base of tongue not enlarged. Crowded left vallecular space with some residual swelling of the right vallecula. Epiglottis edematous at the base, but mildly omega shaped. Significant edematous change of the left arytenoid, aryepiglottic tissue, with obstruction of the left piriform recess. Right-sided supraglottic structures within normal appearance, without edema or lacerations. False and true vocal folds not affected by edema, bilaterally mobile and symmetric without incompetence.
