X-ray was notable for a high-riding patella, with an Insall-Salvati ratio of 1.8. There was no evidence of distinct fracture or bony abnormality. Case Photo #1
MRI showed findings consistent with proximal patellar tendon avulsion. There was large amount of surrounding soft tissue swelling and upward migration of the patella. Additionally, there was a non-displaced subcortical fracture of the lateral femoral condyle, as well as a large contusion and microfracture of the lateral tibial plateau.
