On the day of the injury the patient went to a local Emergency Department and radiographs of the chest (PA), shoulder (AP internal rotation, axillary), and clavicle (AP, axial) were completed and demonstrated no fracture. The right sternoclavicular head was reported as 3 mm inferior compared to the left (images were not available). Upon his visit to the sports medicine office, a CT Chest with and without contrast was performed and demonstrated a posterior right sternoclavicular dislocation with the medial head seen between the superior vena cava and brachiocephalic artery without evidence of vascular injury Case Photo #1 .
