2 view X-rays of the right forearm demonstrated a smooth periosteal reaction along the ulnar and volar aspects of the mid to distal ulnar diaphysis. There was no lucent fracture line visualized or any cortical irregularities appreciated. Case Photo #1 Case Photo #2

The initial report of the MRI of the right forearm without contrast revealed a smooth periosteal reaction with cortical thickening and extensive bone marrow edema in the ulnar diaphysis. This was compatible with a grade 4a stress fracture with intracortical signal but no discrete cortical fracture line.
After review of the MRI images with the radiologist, a discrete fracture line was visualized and findings were suggestive of a grade 4b stress fracture. Case Photo #3 Case Photo #4
