Other Studies: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)of the hip and lumbar spine were notable for diffuse mild edema within the left pectineus, rectus femoris, sartorius and vastus intermedius muscles in the distribution of the anterior division of the femoral nerve, suggesting an entrapment neuropathy. Case Photo #1 Case Photo #2 Also notable was mild degenerative disc disease at L4-5 and L5-S1. An electromyography (EMG) study suggested subacute left femoral neuropathy with denervation on needle exam and a significant decrease of motor conduction amplitude. The injury location based on these studies was thought to be distal to the innervation of the iliopsoas muscle and proximal to the level of the inguinal ligament. The presence of observable motor conduction response and active recruitment of motor units on needle exam indicated a favorable prognosis for recovery with appropriate therapy.
