Patient Presentation:
A 19-year-old male Division III collegiate soccer goalie was involved in play near his goal. In the chaos, his own teammate elbowed him in the anterior left abdomen. The patient dropped to the ground, while vomiting and writhing in pain.
History:
No other history was able to be obtained due to patient status. Records revealed no medications or other PMH, social EtOH use.
Physical Exam:
Patient was writhing on the ground vomiting, appearing in considerable pain. Heart and lungs were clear. Vital signs stable. Significant abdominal pain continued. No bony tenderness on spinal or rib palpation. BP 119/72, HR 60, T 97F, RR 18, O2 sat 100% on arrival to Gettysburg Hospital.
